The guy was acting like an entitled cunt (what the fuck is a "real artist") but he's right. It's simply the way western audiences work, people pirate everything, and only a small percentage of people actually buy merch or do commissions, but without that mass attention from piracy nobody would be aware of their work at all. It's a shame (or maybe not, all things considered) that so many jap artists get so butthurt about piracy, when if they tried to understand foreigners a little more they could make bank from patreon and especially commissions for a kemono artist like this guy. Instead he throws temper tantrums and leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths.
