Hey everyone! Paru here, you may know me from the draw threads.
I'm here to announce a project that I've been working on together with other western kemono artists during the summer - a collaborative art book. I took the initiative this spring to start a new book project with a theme of western kemono art, and for that I put together a varied selection of artists to create illustrations and comics together. It's been fun, and we're just about done with it! We have opened pre-orders now for the public.

Hope it's alright to advertise it here, it's a project we all enjoyed working on together and would love to show off our common passion! Pre-order is available now until September 15th and will include the printed physical book and the digital PDF. After that, the printed books will continue to be sold and the digital PDF to be made available in October.

It's used to describe the styles that they are aiming for. Yeah, "kemono" means "beast" and it's used to refer to "furry" stuff, but it's a completely different style from western stuff as we have different interests.

From what I've seen, the kana versions usually refer to Japanese/anime style anthro characters.
I usually see the kanji version used for characters that have more animal-like traits (though not specifically feral).

I've also seen 獣人 (jyuu jin) which means "Beastman". Not entirely sure if there's a huge difference between 獣 and 獣人 though.

This is true.
Man, this thread went to shit. If you don't like western-made kemono you can hide the thread and move on with your life. It's been stated in the sticky for a long time that it is the style itself, not the nationality, and besides 99% of what is posted here is from Japanese artists anyways.

You don't get a notification when it's shipped, but you can see the status on the download page ("Fulfilled" = shipped). i recently mailed all of the books and they should take 1-2 weeks to arrive
