>"Kemono is the Japanese Furry!"

But… but… it includes things like actual self-published /physical/ comics, a largely heterosexual fanbase, has artists who're professionally trained rather than just 10-years-of-Wacom-scribbling, and has a broad-appeal quality mandate due to the srs doujin bizness established by their peers…
>>4705

Not sure who's behind it or why, but there seems to be a spambot that takes random posts (from other boards even, from what I've seen) and posts them in random threads.

The end result is just about every thread on /furry/ being turned into incoherent garbage.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a few new folks around here. There are some good western artists out that draw in a kemono-like style, so it's not like they couldn't contribute anything new (on top of the fact that they could have some eastern stuff to post too).

It was going to happen eventually. There's not much you can really talk about on /furry/ tbh.

It's literally just a geographically isolated furry group. There's less of them because Japan which might give those perceptions.

It's the impression people get because they don't act like faggots.

no fuck off, /furry/ is beyond cancerous while /kemono/ has had very pleasant threads, no drama, and stayed fairly contained. Now fuck off.

The irony in your post is strong. The thread was all nice and civil until you showed up.

I just really don't want /furry/ to start showing up in droves and have their gay vore and drama threads infesting the catalogue.
I've never really used /furry/ before. And I actually like western art, but most of it that gets posted just tends to be disgusting to me. Kemono is a bit "generic anime"(no way to say that without sounding douchey), but more pleasant. This place just feels more clean, I guess.
No, /kemono/ is like furry but without the cancerous community.

Not just japanese /furry/

Would any of these qualify?

Unless the post gets fucked up, the order should be (from left to right):

Miu, DryChicken, VibrantSnow, Tsampikos, and CoffeeChicken.

While I wouldn't fully consider the art style 100% kemono, I think they bare some similarities. Enough to warrant it being posted on here? That's debatable.

I'm ready to be judged for my opinions.

Albedo Anthropomorphics, an comics anthology from the 80's-mid 00's that was solely made up of comics featuring anthro characters. Usagi Yojimbo(another furry comics series) was first published in this.
This character in specific is Elma from Erma Felna: EDF, the featured series of it. Drawn by some technical illustrator who worked for the US Air Force.
So yeah, furries used to published their own stuff long ago. I've always been interested in comics history, but even this was news to me(not all too into furries, though, discovered this board through the features) when I heard it over on 8/tg/(EDF got its own RPG, even). I haven't read it yet, but I heard good stuff about it though it's really obscured, there doesn't seem to be complete scans, the guy I heard it from pretty much searched all over for it by himself, saying the creator would have a bit more cash in his pocket for once if he at least published an omnibus.

It really does surprise me how much of these I didn't know, and how they even included really popular comics of the time. Usagi Yojimbo for instance appeared on some TMNT episodes(both the 80's and 00's series) and their creators were buds from what it seems. And both were involved with the Cerebus the Aardvark creator, who was the biggest pusher for some of these comics and helped around for non-Big Two creators of the time.
Sorry for some off-topic-ish posting, just got a bit excited and interested in new stuff to read.
Though funfact, Usagi's creator is Japanese, but his style is still more cartoony.
Okay now I'll stop.

I am terrified that western furfags are going to reach out to kemono artists and taint them. Fucking purplecuckleon is already doing collabs with some of the big names.

This is some truth that I believe folks need to remember and is how I even got into furry in the first place, which was not for the sex appeal.

I always liked the idea of anthro characters because it can spice up an otherwise boring human plot.

An avian can have exotic colors, a tiger can be stronger, a gator can have thick skin, so on and so forth just in designs alone.

As it is, fucking zootopia is a pile of shit with no inventiveness. a fucking basic rabbit and basic fox, furfag 101 right there. The plot could have been good but it was dumbed down, thus turnign the two characters into unlikable dipshits on top of it.

ugh…
Replies: >>4798
>>4777
I fully agree and share those feels. Learning about anthro characters actually got me a bit excited because the designs can be so interesting and have a lot of room for creativity and messing around with, and even add to the characters and settings. I was actually quite a bit disappointed to see people mainly interested just for the sex and crazy shit fetishists(not that I'm gonna tell anyone to stop).
As long as there's some fun creative (mostly)SFW furry still around, I'm fine.

Well they certainly showed me a new artist, while it is a shame of the back-story behind the art. They are fairly nice pictures themselves and really pleasing to the eye. So if you could be so kind as to tell me more people of this caliber i shouldn't ignore, I'd be fairly grateful.
Looks like /furry/ is being spammed again, as well as their discord server. I really hope those autistic fucks don't come over here.

I dont think just throwing anime eyes on it makes it kemono, that being said the ones of those that I actually know aren't terrible examples of western art.
Replies: >>5936

Kemono is both a style and a location, like anime. If some westerner made something in the anime style it would cease to be anime, the same goes with kemono.
Replies: >>5937

imo kemono is more angular and tufty than western
I love kemono-only boards, but, if you guys want a western fur board, this one has become more active and fun lately:

>>4701
anyone have a picture of a kemono and kemonomimi side by side?
Like basically the same person, same pose/angle, but just side by side so we could see the obvious difference
