I know the anniversary was in October, but i stumbled against some scan for the 5 years of the game, and I thought about making this thread.

Did you play it ? Do you have fond memories of it ?

It's the game that definitely brought me into furry/kemono, at the time I only wanted to pirate a game on my R4 to spend the time in summer vacation when I would be bored.

>mfw It was one of the best gaming experiences in my life
>I became a huge fan of the game at the time
>I actually bought it, despite having finished it on my linker.

Also I wasn't aware of the "waifu phenomenom" at the time, but I was worried my obsession with Elh will distract me from real girls.

Well, sorry for the blog posting, let's share fanart and lewds.

The board owner mentioned in IRC once that he owns just about all the commercial books for the series (there's like 20 now), and a bunch of doujins, sfw or otherwise.

I'm jealous. I only have the one I got last Summer.

>Did you play it ?
Of course. I think most people interested in kemono have at least tried it.

>Do you have fond memories of it ?
It's one of my favorite DS games. I'll never get rid of my copy. Fun fact: I actually had to get two copies due to a cruel twist of fate (my German Shepard destroyed my first copy).

>I was worried my obsession with Elh will distract me from real girls.
Elh a qt, but I prefer Chocolat.

Also, are you the one who made the Solatorobo thread that's on /v/ right now?

I don't browse /v/ and in fact, I pretty much stopped playing vidya, although a full kemono-game like the little tail bronx series could make me play again.

>Elh a qt, but I prefer Chocolat.
… Me too now, but mainly because of that doujin by ro. It's sadly a lust-fueled love (one of the rare girls that could make me a lolicon)

>>3357
Ahah, it's cool seeing people with the same experiences. I don't think we're alone, the game were released in June in Europe and wasn't particulary hyped (aside for Nobuteru yuki) so I wouldn't be surprised if some curious people pirated it in order to see what it was like.

However I think I have a pretty unique experience with this game : I played itwhile on a trip in France, and as I reached the end of the adventure, I was staying at some friend's mediterannean villa. There wasn't enough room for all of us, so I decided to sleep on the garden's cabin, near the pool (very little and rustic, 21ft², no light, mosquitos everywhere).

Beating the shit out of Baion at midnight in those condition isn't something you can forget. (or playing the Basset event while in the plane)

BTW I really though Elh was a boy at first, or rather… she seemed androgynous enough to make me believe the assumptions of Red

I recently started playing Solatorobo again and I totally forgot about some stuff that happens early in the game. For example that weirdo Alman who keeps calling Red a "dumpling".

Or the scene on the Duel Ship in which Chocolat embarrasses Red in front of Toffee.

Whoopsie. I don't think XSEED made any changes to the text when they brought it to NA so I'm assuming that's a Nintendo of Europe goof.
Replies: >>3416
>>3413
Yeah, it's a rom of the European version. Nintendo of Europe tends to do dumb shit just like NoA.

I might have to replay it one day when I learn moon runes.
Replies: >>3417
>>3416
Allegedly there's really no difference in the English and Japanese versions aside from 1 scene that's not even important. And obviously little mistakes like that.
So. Thanks to tax returns I decided to get all 3 volumes of the Solatorobo art books, the fanbook collection, a doujin, the summer and winter comiket packa AND the Tail concerto art book.

I am also highly considering sending the art books to a non-destructive scanning service. But in all it would be 200 dollary doos, but finally we can all see -everything- and perhaps work towards some translation.

Is this a good idea?
>>3482

Also I forgot to add: I ripped the soundtrack that came with the Vol 3 book, the entire sound track from the game in high quality. https://mega.nz/#!7kRWCIqA!q33K_S0SlQoZ3kpyBMCLG9i6bgEgrPDamULKwBIgEy8

I'd love to see it personally, but in the end it's your call.
>>3482
Where did you find all three books? I saw a couple on Amazon last Summer, but that's about it.

I would love to see scans, but seeing how it's 200 bucks it's all up to you.
>>3482
Gonna give you a heads up, the fanbook collection will be nigh-useless for scanning about half of its content. I have both the fanbook collection and the 8 original books; the collection's pages are somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3rd of the size of the original books, some of which I've scanned already, and it's kind of hard to make out the kanji in the originals because of how small it's printed.
I ended up showing some parts of the collection to a native Japanese speaker, and they struggled to read lots of the print. I don't know what they were thinking 1/2ing the resolution (especially since some artists chose some fonts that are hard to read in the first place, or are handwritten and have thick lines), I'd rather have bought two books that were larger but I guess it would have been incredibly expensive to produce.

>the collection's pages are somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3rd of the size of the original books

That's a shame. Now I'm not so sure about getting that collection. I'm sure it's better than nothing. We are talking about the 700 page one, correct?
Replies: >>3489
>>3487
Yes, it's a compilation of 8 other fanbooks they made that are now sold out and out of print, plus a few pages of bonus content.

I think it's still worth it for personal use if you like the art in it, (there's a lot of it so you'll probably like something in it), but for scanning purposes I think it would be extremely difficult to have it scanned without being damaged, and I think a lot of the print was originally too small and thick to be legible in its form in the collection.

I'm on the IRC if you have any more questions.
Replies: >>3490
>>3489
I have no other questions so I won't be joining you on IRC.

I was just wondering if the book is legible as it is, since I have don't plan on scanning when I get it.
Replies: >>3491
>>3490
It's really just the more complicated Kanji but it throws a huge wrench into reading it since you have to stop and hopefully make out what it's supposed to be from context. Some of it is fine though, very clean, thin, printed lines.
Can someone name exactly how many official books it has?
Replies: >>3495
>>3493
Oh boy, I think I have just about everything so let's go through the list.

There's the three anthology books, Blue Sky, Daybreak and Starlet.

The eight original fanbooks (Carmine, Rose, Red, Vermillion, Rouge, Nero, Blanck and Last Order). These are the books that the fanbook complete collection is a compilation of, so there's that too, it has some bonus content.

The Solatorobon art books (1, 2, 3, 4, 5th anniversary summer and winter)

There's some booklet that came with the Collector's edition of the Japanese version, and a couple of short comic booklets of an action hero in-universe, I think there's some other small thing I have laying around from one of the collections but I can't remember since they're not that important.

I THINK that's about it for official books. Everything else is REALLY obscure and long gone since they only ever sold it at cons one year or it was printed in certain editions of certain magazines.
Replies: >>3496 >>3505
>>3495
Forgot, there's also a book that has storyboards and initial art for the intro.

Yeah, that's the in-universe action/comic hero I mentioned, there's a full comic issue (I think it's 50 pages+) they gave out in one of the packs that I have, his name is like super Nata or something, I forget and I can't find the book right this second.
Replies: >>3508

Replies: >>3511

Those are also packs but not the one where I got the comic I was talking about. I THINK I got that in a limited (as in, now unavailable) pack that came with the third anthology book, Starlet.
Replies: >>3512

WAIT no I'm wrong, it's totally still available, you can see it in this pack.

These (and many of CC2's books) are available for free through Kindle Unlimited.
So instead of spending $90 for 10 books you could just sign up for the 1 month trial and rip these books.
You need a amazon account with a card added though.

I agree. The game was okay, but I'd love a movie or series about it.
