Supposedly stuff is going to transfer over automatically, but I backed up all my own posts and whatnot just in case. I recommend saving everything as a precaution just in case it does get lost in the transition.

You're misunderstanding what's happening.

None of the boards or threads or posts are going away and we're not moving anywhere. The software that runs the site is just getting replaced.

One day when you come to 8chan, it will look different and some of the mechanics are different, but all the content is still there.

Actually the posts on smaller boards are expected to not be transferred over immediately since the 8chan database is fucked and the new software doesn't work with the current database without changes. If the situation allows for it, they'll be systematically added to infinity next, but the possibility exists that all posts will be lost on small boards.

I think you need to re-read it.

Everything was already imported, but it became so slow that it's unusable. They're trying to fix it, and if they succeed we will switch to it.

They will not run the import again though, which in practice means that if/when we switch, we will only have posts that existed before today (at the time of the import).

With the way things have been going with this server migration, I'm gonna back up some stuff just in case. :^)

Apparently moving to Infinity Next won't have any data migration anymore, so anyone has been started archiving this board yet?
