Oh, good catch. Turns out I had pic #1 saved in my ro folder. Buckle up, there's a long story behind this.
I am pretty sure I am the one that made that crop. I have the crop saved with a modification time shortly after the original pic was posted. I knew I was the one that gave it the filename "winking wanko.png" but my memory is shit so I forgot making it. Sorry, it's my own fault for causing this mess, however I was able to learn some things because of it.
You can see it says "SurgicalArts for ロ (ro)" in the cropped corner. tl;dr that's the real artist, I didn't do this right away but you can find them in 2 seconds on e621 and get their pixiv here: https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=11969685
Instead I checked the date modified for the image and used twitter advanced search to find ro's tweets from around that time.
https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=from%3Akemonono%20since%3A2016-11-16%20include%3Aretweets%20until%3A2017-01-08&src=typd
Poked around for a little bit and found the tweet: https://twitter.com/kemonono/status/817000503997394944
>冬コミでファンの方から色紙貰った!!めっちゃ嬉しい!!!
>(google translate) I got colored paper from the fans in winter comics! ! I am so happy! ! !
Notice that there is no obvious mention of the artist responsible, not a mention of their twitter handle nor was it a retweet of someone else. I can't read Japanese so I must have assumed that it was drawn by ro and put it in my ro folder. I don't remember if I noticed SurgicalArts in the corner at the time or not, but obviously I didn't think enough of it.
So then of course I looked them up on e621, went to their pixiv, whose bio says
>いらっしゃいませ。私はアメリカ人です。ごめんなさいでも日本語が少しわかりますそしてまだじょうずじゃありません。今日本語が学ぶそして今は沖縄住むです。ロリが好き
>(google translate) Welcome. I am an american. I am sorry but I can understand Japanese a bit and I am not quite as yet. Now I learn Japanese and now I live in Okinawa. I like loli
and sure enough, there it is in a much higher quality scan (pic #2): https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=60724335
>I attended my first ever comiket and was able to meet a lot of my favorite artists! I wish I could have said more, but my japanese is very limited and the convention is extremely hectic. I drew this illustration for my favorite kemono artist, ロ. It was my first time trying out copic markers, which turned out to be pretty fun.
The title is にゃんこね and there is #neko in the tags, so as a final insult to injury, not only did I get the artist wrong, I also got her species wrong. So now I will fix it and save "winking nyanko.png" with the artist name included.
After that I found the artist's twitter, and sure enough, their first tweet was months after the event. So of course ro didn't know who to credit, they had no twitter handle to give at the time and that person didn't speak Japanese well enough to communicate. Mystery solved.
